Interview with the Author

Shilamida headshotShilamida immigrated to this country at the age of 6 months from Russia. She once dreamed of becoming a high powered trial attorney. She envisioned herself married in her 20’s and living in a house with a white picket fence and a few children.  Her life has turned out quite differently than she imagined but she wouldn’t trade any of it for the world because it has led her on a path of true enlightenment!

Though Shilamida did start her college career on her original dream path, as a pre-law minor, she majored in Business which she found she disliked a great deal.  At the end of her first year she received news that her father had terminal cancer. She turned to drugs and alcohol and even had a breakdown where she took a semester off from college at one point.  During that time, she went to work for a lawyer to ‘try it out’ but realized she truly missed the camaraderie and friendship college offered to her.  Because of this, she buckled down and graduated with a degree in History and Pre-law. However, she still didn’t know what she wanted to ‘do’.

Shilamida’s first ‘real’ job post-college at the age of 21 was as a school teacher, during which time she became a ‘serial entrepreneur’, starting with an MLM business and owning her first brick and mortar store.  During that year Shilamida became pregnant and miscarried soon after. At that point in life she felt that she would not want to have kids in her future.

In the next 5 years Shilamida would own 2 more Brick and Mortar businesses and another MLM business. At the age of 26 her father passed away and she found out she was pregnant again with her oldest son, Mikey. Within a very short period of time, she lost everything, hit rock bottom and suffered greatly with depression and anxiety. All of these challenges, triumphs and trauma led her to who she is now, and Gratitude is at the forefront.

So, what does Gratitude mean to Shilamida? Read on in her own words:

“I learned of the words Law of Attraction at the age of 21, but didn’t take much interest. After I had my first son I had met a new friend. I was sad, depressed , unhappy in my relationship, miserable in my own body. She encouraged me to read/watch the secret. She explained to me the Law of Attraction. At that point in my life I figured I didn’t have much to lose. So I watched it. The Secret talked about being grateful. That was the energy behind the Law of Attraction. I decided to try it and it worked! Positive things started happening! “

Once she learned the Law of Attraction and began practicing Gratitude, Shilamida’s life began to change in ways she could have never imagined! She learned to manifest her entire life! From the love of her life, to her beautiful children, to her warm and inviting home, her career, vacations, material possessions…It has changed her entire existence.  She realized that she is the creator of her own life and that with gratitude, miracles are made!

To teach Gratitude and Manifestation, one must live it.  Does Shilamida?

“I am grateful every day. I wasn’t always, and my life went on like a roller coaster of highs and lows. I want to say that I don’t always consciously manifest, but I know better. Every thought that comes into your mind is a form of manifesting. So I am super careful with my thoughts. Because just as you can draw in the good things in life, you can also create all the bad things as well. I am happy and content with where I am now. When I want for more, I consciously manifest.”

So, if you are considering purchasing and using the book, you may be wondering: How does 31 Days of Gratitude guide the reader in creating the life they desire?
“Being grateful is not an easy practice. It sounds easy. But it is a true discipline. You must always find the gratitude within any given situation. I have lived through great suffering and sadness and have learned how to find Gratitude within it all. 31 Days of Gratitude is a guideline of not only what I learned from The Secret, but from 13 years of spiritual learning and growth, from some of the most influential spiritual leaders of our time. I have pulled together all of my spiritual laws as I see them and put them together for my readers. It takes 21 days to create a habit, so this journal is 31 days to make sure the reader keeps going. I am often told that people’s gratitude does not sound like mine so every page has sample affirmations for any reader that will improve their overall state of mind and health. I am excited to hear the stories that come from these journals!”
